Our Role in Co-Managing Your Cataract Surgery

Cataracts is a common age-related eye condition that causes blurred vision. It occurs when the lens of your eye becomes cloudy. During your eye exam, our optometrists will carefully examine your lens for signs of the condition.

If a cataract is detected, we will refer you to an experienced eye surgeon for surgery — the only known cure for cataracts. We'll support you every step of the way, providing pre-surgery consultations and post-operative care to ensure a smooth recovery.

Cataract surgery involves removing and replacing the cloudy natural lens with an artificial intraocular lens implant. An ophthalmologist typically performs this procedure in an outpatient setting using local anesthesia.

Trust us to co-manage your cataract journey as we work closely with skilled Colchester, Essex, and Hebron surgeons to restore your clear vision.

In-house Glaucoma Testing and Treatment

Glaucoma silently attacks the optic nerve, gradually reducing peripheral and central vision.

There are many theories about what causes glaucoma, but it's usually associated with increased eye pressure. Our eye doctors will consider risk factors like age, family history, optic nerve appearance, eye injury, and long-term steroid usage.

Glaucoma doesn't discriminate, although it tends to target those aged 55 and over and of black, Asian, or Hispanic heritage. Unfortunately, glaucoma doesn't show any symptoms in its early stage, and detecting it requires a thorough eye exam.

At Wild Apple Eye Care, we stand by your side with comprehensive, in-house glaucoma management. Through advanced diagnostic tools, meticulous monitoring, and personalized treatment plans, we proudly address your condition without needing referrals (unless surgery is necessary). Embrace a secure future with clear vision by scheduling a glaucoma consultation today.

Safeguarding Your Sight Against Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a severe eye complication that can affect anyone with diabetes. High blood sugar levels damage the blood vessels in the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of your eye.

Type I diabetes is genetic and often targets children and young adults. Type II diabetes usually affects individuals over 40 or who are overweight. Certain populations like African Americans, Hispanics, Alaskans, Pacific Islanders, and Asian Americans are also at a higher risk.

Fortunately, we can help! From proactive prevention to advanced laser therapies and injections, we equip you with the tools to combat diabetic retinopathy at every stage.

Living with diabetes doesn't mean compromising your sight. Schedule a diabetic eye exam at Wild Apple Eye Care, and let us help you preserve your vision and quality of life.

Macular Degeneration Treatment in Colchester, Essex, and Hebron

Macular degeneration is a severe age-related eye condition that can lead to blindness, especially for those over 65.

There are two types of age-related macular degeneration (AMD): the dry form and the wet form. Dry AMD is more common, progressing slowly and causing less severe vision damage. Treatment typically involves high doses of zinc and antioxidants, which can slow the disease's progression.

Wet macular degeneration is less common but more severe. Abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage can cause the formation of scar tissue. Treatment for wet AMD includes laser surgery and injecting light-sensitive dyes or medication directly into the eye.

While there is no cure for AMD, and its effects are irreversible, we offer various treatments to slow its progression. Routine eye exams are crucial for detecting AMD early and allowing for timely intervention.

Don't let eye disease dim your future. Take control and start your personalized treatment journey at Wild Apple Eye Care.
