Sharon Neyer

Licensed Optical Manager

Sharon came to us with the most glowing recommendations from her previous employers. She loves and knows the optical industry through and through. She is willing to try new things and is excited to bring in some new frame lines in Hebron Eye Care. Come check out what is new!

I started in optical part time 30 years ago, my manager at the time helped me to find the passion for it that I still have today. I became ABO certified in 1989 and still continue to learn more about my field. I love helping patients achieve their best vision by finding the right fit and style. I personally love wearing glasses as a fashion statement but also understand how the right lens design and treatments are important. I stay up to date on eyewear fashion by reading 20/20, Eyecare Business, attending Vision Expo's and meeting with our frame vendors to constantly switch out our frames to the latest "hot" styles.

My hobbies are my family, husband of 26 years and 3 grown children that I adore. I have 3 Teddy Bear dogs that keep me busy and am very involved in my church.

I am so excited to be part of Hebron Eye Care, I love the professionalism and knowing that our patients are the first priority. We have a great team that not only cares about each patient but also each other, all with the same goal...quality care and great environment.

Heather Thompson

Licensed Optical Manager

I graduated from Middlesex Community College in 2014 with my Associates in Ophthalmic Design and Dispensing and two national certifications (ABOC and NCLEC), and I became a licensed optician in 2015.

My optical background has been a mix of retail sales, lab work, and management in different corporate settings. My goal has always been to get into a private practice and leave the corporate world, so when I heard that Colchester Eye Care was looking for a new optical manager, I just had to jump on the opportunity!

Colchester Eye Care is such a close work family and I am so happy that they all welcomed me with open arms. I have never met a nicer group of people working in one place! Everyone gets along great and I think the energy just flows to the patients and everyone, both employees and patients, have a great time as soon as they step foot in the door!
The biggest change for me is finally being able to have a say in what frames are in the store and there are so many different styles and brands that weren’t available to me in the corporate optical. Right now, I would have to say that my favorite frames are all of the ones with fun colors.

When I’m not at work, I am most likely at home binging some new show on Netflix and hanging out with my boyfriend, Matt, and our two cats, Whiskey and Tango.

Michele McCormick

Optician’s Assistant

Michele has been so loyal to Colchester Eye Care for so many years we had to find a place within our eye care family for her!  When we decided to add another assistant to our awesome optical team, Karen suggested talking to Michele.  She had always admired her intelligence and personality and thought she would be a great fit to our team.  We all agreed and Michele is our new Optician's assistant.

Michele comes to us with many years of extensive customer service, including retail store management, sales and marketing.  She is great at multi-tasking, and enjoys helping customers and meeting new patients!

"I've been a patient at CEC for many years  and  got  to know Dr. Dempsey and  his wife Wendy. Their high level of personal, competent,  and friendly service kept me coming back, in addition to their long-time personable & caring staff, including Tracy Gale & Karen Cullinen . I have referred my family members  and friends to CEC as I trust them for my eye care and for my family's as well.  When the opportunity arose to work part-time it seemed liked the perfect fit, based on my positive experiences.”

Michele lives in town and has raised three wonderful sons with her husband. She is an active volunteer in her  community currently with the Boy Scouts & the Colchester Land Trust. We hope you get a chance to say hello to Michele when you come in!

Kellee Mefford

Licensed Optician

Kellee has worked for Colchester Eye Care on and off for almost 10 years.  She is a licensed optician who has been in the optical field over 20 years.  She is a graduate of the Middlesex Community College optician's program.  We have been lucky enough to have her coming back again and again to fill in when we need her.  She is bright and caring and loves to help people.

Kellee says:  "I really enjoy selling eyeglasses. In my free time I like spending time with my family, being outdoors, and gardening. I really enjoy working at Colchester Eye Care. The doctors and staff all make you feel so welcome. I'm so happy to be part of such a wonderful place."

Jenna Cowan

Optical Assistant and Ophthalmic Technician and Receptionist

We are excited that we have found a fabulous addition to our eye care team.  Jenna comes to us with years of optical experience in many different roles.  She is taking that knowledge and her upbeat personality and bringing it to join right in with our amazing staff at Colchester and Hebron Eye Care.  You will never know where you will meet up with Jenna in our offices.  She can do it all and do it all really well.

Jenna says: " I happily joined the team here at Colchester and Hebron Eye Care, where I do a little bit of everything from receptionist duties, to optical measurements, to technician pretests. Not only am I new to the team, but I'm also new to Connecticut, I moved from Maine to Coventry, CT. Excited to start this new journey with some great new co-workers and doctors, that gave me the most heartwarming welcome. Back in Maine, I worked in Optical for two years as an assistant manager helping patients pick out frames and lenses to best meet their needs. I also worked for an Optometry office for two years as Lead Optometric Technician where I reviewed patients history, and performed the diagnostic testing before the doctor completed the comprehensive exam.

I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, hiking, fishing, and really anything that has to do with the outdoors. I really enjoy working for Colchester and Hebron Eye Care because I know all the patients are getting the most exceptional care that they can possibly get for their eyes. The doctors provide personalized care for each patient and have a way of making you feel right at home to get all of your eye needs taken care of. I love working here! The staff are all extremely compassionate about their jobs, and have a way of making you feel comfortable and part of the family."

Robin Kelley

Robin has been a friend of the practice for many years. She is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. We were so thrilled to snatch her up to come help our patients. She loves helping people and you will feel it the minute you meet her. She is bright, caring and loves to make people look great. Come in and meet her

I am so excited to be a part of the Hebron Eye Care family. I was first introduced to the practice after my son (8 yrs old at the time) had his eye screening at school and we received the infamous paper stating it was recommended that he see an eye doctor. Shortly thereafter he became a patient of Dr. Dempsey. Each year we both looked forward to his exam because we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the office. All these years later (he's 17 now) and I am so happy to call all these wonderful people my coworkers!!

When I'm not in the office, you can likely find me in a hockey rink or at a lacrosse game with my husband and 3 children.

Carolyn Aloia

Carolyn grew up in Colchester and has been a long time patient at Colchester Eye Care. After going to school for a few years working towards a health science degree, Carolyn realized her passion for eye care and optical work. She is a current student at Goodwin College in the vision care technology program and is studying to become a licensed optician. Carolyn has a passion for helping people and providing an excellent experience for everyone who comes into the office. She has years of experience in customer service and is eager to learn every aspect of the eye care industry. In her free time she enjoys the outdoors, playing the ukulele, and spending time with her fiance Dave and dog Quinn.
